I need to know if the LITTLE GIANT incubator is a good one for hatching bearded dragon eggs?
i have 2 bearded dragons that are about 2-3 years of age.
the girl just got pregnet by the male, and i own a little giant incubator, but the last summer she layed eggs, and i didnt have success on hatching the eggs.
they came from the same tank when i bought them from the pet store, but i wouldnt think that could stop the eggs from hatching.
but the only question i have is the HOVABATOR incubater better for hatching? is it worth the money which is around $45.00?
So long as it does not have or you can turn off the fan and you can maintain a constant temp of 80-82 degrees(I would not use the thermometer that comes with any incubator they are usually way off)it should be fine.
If you bought both of your beardies at the same time from the same cage at the pet store then most likely they are siblings and that probrably has something to do with why your first batch did not hatch. Unless you are certain that they are NOT siblings then breeding them is only asking for trouble. You have a very high likelyhood of very small babies, mal or non formed eggs, deformaties and numerous health issues. A more humane thing to do would be to freeze the eggs to ensure that none are born with deformaties and/or serious health issues. I saw a picture of a dragon that was born with his intestines hanging out of his abdomen and also one of beardies that were born with no legs and malformed heads. They are born to live for a while in complete agony only to then die. I am not trying to be cruel but only to inform you of the truth.
Also, are you upping the females nutrition appropriately? She needs a lot more protein and a lot more calcium to produe all those babies and eggs and she doesn't get it, not only will she suffer but the health of the eggs will too.
Hova Bator Incubator Arrived!!!
