Sleeping Birds & Parrots?

Im thinking specifically about Lovebirds which is a parrot. But any info is good enough.
I was wondering for how long lovebirds or other birds/parrots sleep. What is required for them to sleep and how important is sleep to them. Got any other parrot sleep info?

Most all pet birds need around 12 hours of dark quiet time in order to stay healthy.

It is best to have a certain bed time for a bird because they are very habitual creatures, they like to stick to a schedule.

My sun conure gets very upset if we are even a few minutes late when doing the daily activities.

I can never sleep in at all because he's up at 7:30 wanting his breakfast since that is the routine for my 5 year old on school days. They are very particular about their routines.

12 hours of time in a quiet, dark area is optimum. Your bird will decide how much he really wants to sleep during that time.

Don't forget the cage cover. Just turning out the lights isn't always enough. Especially if the cage is in a high traffic area of the house. They like their privacy for their quiet time.
