how can i stop my cats from peeing on my bed & other furniture?
I have a 2 year old female cat & a 9 month old kitten (who is the daughter) & in the past 2 weeks they (we don't know which one) has been peeing on our bed & other furniture in our home. They both aren't fixed so i don't know if that's the reason but they have never done this before! Please someone help, my fiance is ready to get rid of them because we just have to throw away so much stuff because of them.

Did you know that inappropriate elimination is one of the greatest reasons for people surrendering their cats to shelters? Many times this behavior is due to a medical or anxiety/or estrus, which can be treated by a vet, and spaying can help prevent this behavior as well.
When cats start peeing outside of the litter box all of a sudden, it is a red flag to take them to the vet to rule out a urinary tract infection/bladder crystals. One way to find out which of your cats is doing this, or.. if both are.. separate them for a day, confining one to the bedroom and letting the other roam the rest of the house.
Your 9 month old may be in heat which is another possible reason for this behavior. Having her spayed soon is a good idea.Cats who are not spayed and are not bred are at great risk for uterine cancer, ovarian cancer and uterine infections in addition to mammary cancer.
But if these were my cats, they would be at the vet for a urine and blood test, and to make an appointment for spaying asap.
