How much does it cost to get your cat groomed?

I want to bring the "porch kitty" to the clippers. I've sort of adopted an outside cat who lives in the yard at my fourplex. He's so cool but he has some mats in his fur. I want to bring him to the groomers. What's a round-a-bout price for how much this should cost?

If the mats are REALLY bad the cat may have to be shaved down. If there's just "some mats" and they look like they can be worked out then the groomer would have to work at them with a comb and possibly clip just those mats out. So either way you're talking about a bit more work than just, for example, giving a cat a bath. I inquired about having the groomers at PetSmart bathe my Persian since they have those powerful dryers that would get him dry quicker. I believe it was about $30 for the bath. So I'd expect grooming to the extent you need it to be at least $50.

Are you sure you can't work these mats out yourself? Percy was quite matted when I first got him and I worked the mats out with a steeltoothed comb and then cut out a couple really bad ones and then gave him a bath once he was fully combed out. It was a challenge but not impossible and didn't cost me anything other than some time, soaked clothing and one very pissed off cat lol
