Using scaffold towers as part of your home improvement construction project means that for your safety it is a good idea to be aware of the health and safety recommendations. Treat your home as a workplace when using scaffold towers. Before you undertake work on scaffolding towers carry out an assessment in accordance to The Work at Height Regulations 2005. In the workplace this assessment is to confirm that there is no alternative to working at height and that the most suitable equipment has been selected for the job in hand, the same should apply to your home construction project.

Scaffold towers are, when used correctly, a safe means of gaining access to work which is being done at height. They are used widely throughout the UK. However all manufacturers also have the duty to provide the instruction manual which explains the erection sequence and this should include any bracing requirements. The same applies to any organisations which hire the towers to you.

The first approved method is an advance guard rail system, which makes use of guard rail units which are specifically designed for the job. These guard rail units are locked in place form the level below and moved up onto the platform level. They provide collective fall prevention and are put in place before the operator accesses the platform in order to fit the permanent guard rails. It is the progressive erection of guard rails from the protected areas at the lower level which makes sure that the operator will not be exposed to the risk of falling from an un-guarded platform.

The second approved method of erection is the "through the trap" method. It involves the operator taking up a working position in the trap door of the platform. From this position you can add or remove the components which are acting as guard rails on the level above the platform. This method is designed to make sure that the operator does not stand on an un-guarded platform, yet can install the components to a particular level while you are positioned within the trap door of that level.

Before use the scaffolding towers you should inspect the access towers well to see that they are in a safe working condition. Naturally you or any other person using the scaffold towers should not be under the influence of any state altering medication or other substances.

Take the time to plan your work well as this will help you keep safe when using scaffold towers.

We are presently going through Recession the world over. Since the last 5-6 months we have seen economies downsizing under pressure, industries take a beating, corporations going bust and jobs being lost in hordes, unemployment rising to the decade's highest figures. Some are comparing this to the Great Depression of the 1930's; some are of the opinion that this time it is much bigger and harder. It is bad times all over. It has hit not only the US economy but all through the developed world and well into the underdeveloped world. Myself being still part of the lucky ones, I was assessing the situation and looked at posts from different blogs, trying to understand the confusion and depression of hundreds of posters and those who have commented on those posts.

Based on my understanding I have listed below the Tips that would help you to survive these bad times and tide it over. Let me know your thoughts on the same.

1. Give yourself a breather:

Ok, so you have lost your job or your business has gone bust. Its bad but understand one thing that this is not the end of the world. Remember the days when you had a smaller job, or used to work in a different job? Remember the days when you were just starting your phase in business. Weren't those days equally good. It may been some extra hours, some more effort but still things were rolling for you, wasn't it. So will it be soon. These are tough times and as the age old saying goes " Tough times never last, tough people do. Take this a s a break you were looking from a long time, and settle down a bit. We all live in a terribly fast paced world, and this is a good time to gather the bits and pieces of you that had fallen around you. Take a breath, spend some time for yourself and decide to take things one at a time. Have faith in yourself, and it will fall to places.

2. Take stock of your finances:

Its time to count and account. Time to know your finances, in detail, both credit and debit side. Time to calculate for your bank loans, account for your equity transactions, your bank savings,

mortgages, credit card dues, monthly expenses and all other financial items. Check whether you are on the green or red side.

Segregate the expenditures as ones that you have to do, or a Must Do list. These would include things like your credit card payments, any monthly payments for loans, insurance payments, car installments, monthly average grocery etc. Once this is done, you can generate one which you would better do "Better do" list.

This might include, buying a sports item, a designer dress item, jewellery, an upgrade on your car, a new apartment, a new suit etc. Mark or strike out the ones that you can surely do without during this lean phase. Now Calculate how long you can carry on without any stable income. Make a rough estimate of the time frame. This will make you feel much better and will guide you to come out of the confused state that you are in.

3. Arrange your resources

So once you had a few days time settling in and have made a good "Must Do" and "Better do" list, its time to get back to the brass tacks. You need a stable income for yourself and for your family. So what are your options? Have you got any specialization in the kind of work you do? What are the avenues you can start to begin your job search? The answer is Net obviously, but what else? The local newspapers or the yellow pages? A search for a good headhunter? Can some more orthodox ways be tried? Like word of mouth? My advice is do not worry on opening yourself up to others and explaining that you are one of the thousands hit by recession and are looking out for a new job. People do understand, at least sane people do. Try to think of other influential people you may have met in the last couple of months, in parties, at the department store or shopping mall, in theaters or Cineplex's. Think of everyone; do not tick out people based on your idea of the same. Now make a list of all these people whom you are going to approach. Think of people who might be able to refer your resume. Pick up some good references in the meantime. Thus make a pool of all your resources. It will come in handy in the recent future.

Where can I buy the plastic clasp for pet collars?

I make hemp jewelry and would like to make pet collars, but I can't find just the plastic clasp anywhere? Anybody know where I can buy them? I would prefer the "safety" or "breakaway" kind, that look kind of like a seat belt buckle.

Fortunately you don't have to spend a fortune on toys for your feline friend. This is largely due to the fact that they will play with whatever it is you have handy. Whether it is a string, a leaf, wrapping paper, or a ball, they will be completely content swatting it, biting it, and tearing it apart. Of course, many of these items that you have lying around your house are not the safest for kittens and cats, nor do you want them thinking that it's ok to chew on whatever they want, this is why it's important that they have some of their own toys.

You can choose to go through your house and find toys that will be safe for your cat or to go to the store and purchase a few cat designated toys. Some toys that are safe to give your cat that you find around the house are:

A Collar, Leash, and Harness for Your Cat

A collar is a very important thing if you have a cat who enjoys both the indoors as well as the outdoors. An important thing to keep in mind when buying a collar for your cat is that if they are quite active and curious, you will need to find a collar that can break away. My male cat was just neutered and I caught him spraying.?

I'm going to try to get him to stop but I have never used these products before. One website suggests first using Lysol to clean the remnants of the spray then use Feliway Feline Behavior Modification Spray to keep the cat from spraying there again and also a Comfort Zone Diffuser. Has anyone had any luck with these or can you suggest something else. He just got fixed last week and I know it may take awhile before he finally breaks the habit but I would hate for him to just keep doing it if I don't do anything about it.

Usually when neutered cats spray there is something amiss. There is something in the house that is causing him stress or he may be sick.

The above suggestions with Lysol and Feliway are good ones. First things first, take him to the vet. Urinary tract infections are a prime candidate for spraying. When cats have pain going to the bathrrom they start associating that pain with the litter box, so they go someplace else.

Should he be healthy, look for factors in the house that may cause him stress. Is everyone in the house treating him well? Are there other animals that he does not get along with? Are there loud noises that occur regularly that scare him? Is there a cat outside that is marking territory around your house? Is he alone for large portions of the day? Any of these factors (and others I haven't thought of) may cause a cat to act out.

Finally, try moving an empty cat box to the place where he is marking. He may choose to go in that instead of on the wall. It's worked for me in certain situations. Then you just rinse the box out.

Oh, and do not put your cat outside as others on this answer have suggested! Indoor cats, on average, live 10-12 year longer than outdoor cats. Putting your cat outdoors exposes them to traffic, strangers, predators, harmful insects, and the elements. Putting the cat out should absolutely be your last resort.

When going into a child's bedroom or playroom often times you'll find the room left in complete chaos. What can I use/do to get short hair dog to quit shedding?

My son has a lab/pit mix. Lady has short blond hair and SHEDS ALOT, all the time. The carpet in the house is burgandy and let me tell you it gets covered. He brushes her daily, keeps her clean and she is feed top of the line dog food. It really is a problem. I see there are some shampoos out there but do they really work? Also whil e browsing on-line I say a prodct called the 'Furminator" a deshedding tool, calms to reduce by 90%. Anybody try this one? Thanks for your tips and please, those of you who just wanna give out BS answers keep em.

Of course, you can't actually stop a dog from shedding, but a good grooming tool is your best bet to cut it down. I have the Furminator and it does get out a lot of dead fur. I've tried it with my cats, but they hate it, though I know several people with dogs who love it, definitely worth a try.

It is a shame that some people who love dogs do not own one because of the shedding. Dog shedding can be a major problem. It shows up all over your clothes, in your bed, on your floor, in your car, on and under furniture, and even in your food. It can be a major turn off to owning a dog. Shedding can be dramatically reduced with the proper care, techniques, and tools.

There are several different ways shedding can be reduced. Proper grooming can reduce shedding tremendously. Things like getting the hair trimmed, shampoos and conditioners, bathing, using special brushes and gloves, and even sticky rollers to collect the hair.

My wife and I have two adorable, cute, funny, energetic, wonderful dogs We have Chloe, who is a tri-colored Beagle, and Caesar, who is a tan w/ a black mask Great Dane. They both shed like crazy. We literally have to use the sticky roller on our clothes before we leave our house to go places, then we get in our car and get hair on us in there. The dog shedding was so bad, it collected under furniture terribly, in the corners of our home, on the stairs, its ended up in our mouths and food before. Each time we would pet them the hair would just fall of on the floor. We got tired of it.

We used some of the techniques listed above, including a special deshedding tool. The first day we used these techniques all together, we also vacuumed our whole house. Then we waited, about 3-4 weeks to be exact. We checked every area of our house for dog hair. No more clumps under the furniture or in the corners, not all over our clothes or in our bed, and when we would pet them no hair came off. It was like they didn't shed anymore. It virtually eliminated dog shedding. Now this process would need to be done every month to month and a half to continue to receive the same results.
