What happens when animal control is called for a dog barking?

Ok i have a three year old golden retriever and he is very sweet and gentle. Usually he'll bark when someones at the door or someone is around our yard. But today he ran up to my neighbor,barked and ran away. But my neighbor says that it scared him and that he is going to call animal control. Does anyone know what is going to happen next?
