thinking of buying a shock collar to try to stop my dingo-cross chasing roos. has anyone used one for this??
Jack is 1 and a half and discovered roos 4 months ago. I live in northern WA where they are everywhere and used to be able to run him on the beach but now need to keep him on a lead which doesn't give him enough excecise. He has never been a sucker for treats and although very loving and mellow at home just can't help himself when gets to the beach. he sees the dunes, looks at me and goes running!! I have always thought the collars were crewl but he is bound to be injurred or shot and i don't like the idea of the roos being injurred either!
So i'd like to know if anyone has used a remote collar to correct undesired behaviour and if it worked. He is a very smart dog so i'm hoping he would learn quickly...
Dogs can be traumatized if the collar malfunctions and keeps shocking them. So be sure to keep up continuous maintenance on the collar to prevent malfunction. Also buy a new one as soon as the collar starts to wear.
