Why does my pet dog only wants to have male dogs around?
I noticed my pet dog snoppy only plays with male dogs only, he actually runs the female dogs, I mean he chases them away, and humps his male companions, does this means he is gay? Are there gay animals, please put my mind at ease here.
Anyone out there ever had this experience with any pet. Thanks.

One of the first things that dog owners should know about is alpha male dog behavior. Before dogs ever became domesticated, they lived in the wild in packs. These packs were led and dominated by alpha dogs who called the shots. Even after dogs became fully domesticated, they carried the urge to establish themselves as alphas.
Your dog's urge to exert dominance may not be good news for you. Once your dog believes that it is an alpha, it will try to dominate you and everyone else in the household. Hence, it may become difficult for you to control your dog when its starts showing aggression or when it becomes destructive. It may think that it has the right to do what it wants because it is the top dog.
It should therefore be your priority to curb alpha male dog behavior. The key is to make it known that you are the true alpha. You may not know it but simple acts such as letting your dog exit before you, letting it have its way and not correcting undesirable behavior might reinforce its belief in its top status. It is therefore a good idea to let your dog know that it isn't. Simple techniques such as commanding your dog to sit before allowing it to eat or leave the room or rewarding it only when it behaves correctly are proper ways to establish your dominance.
Male dog behavior may not always be proper or pleasant. There are however a number of ways to deal with undesirable male alpha tendencies. Start correcting them now and save yourself from a lot of trouble.
