ANy tips of potty training a yorkie puppy during cold weather, my dog refuses to go outside. ?

I've had her for a week and I've even bought her the puppy training pads, but all she does is tear them up.

I don't know if you are intersted in this but my chihuahua is trained to use a litter box when the weather is to yucky for him. It is not that difficult to do and they actually make puppy litter (cat litter works fine also)
Or....you can keep your puppy leashed when she is outside of her kennel. Do not let her get any further then 6 feet away from you then she will not be able to sneak off and go potty. You can catch her quickly and take her outside. When she goes potty outside praise her. This is truely the easiest way to correct this proble. If you can not have her leashed with you then put her into her kennel (not for long periods of time though) . If she is not kennel trained then I would get this done right away. Do not let her have endless supply of food and water. Only let her have it at certain times of the day will also help to controll when she needs to get. Be persistant and you will win the puppy potty battle.

If you've made the decision to bring a dog into your family and specifically a Lab, then good for you! She will keep you company and give you affection for many years to come. It would be wise to learn Labrador puppy training techniques and teach her at a young age.

1. Labrador dogs are a very loving and social breed. They need constant attention and company. This is not a breed for somebody that will be away most of the day.

2. These dogs are a very active breed and they need physical exercise everyday. You need to take your pup out at least twice a day. Otherwise your dog can develop health issues like gain weight and this can lead to hip problems, which are somewhat common in this type of breed.

Also, you need to mentally stimulate your Lab by playing and challenging her, that way you will avoid any behavioral problems and difficulty controlling your pet.

Here are a few tips to make the most out of your training:

1. Spend time with your puppy everyday. Give her positive reinforcement with praise and treats while you are training her. This will help her learn faster.

2. Try to take her outside at least twice per day and bring training sessions to the exercise time. Let her run and fetch. Remember, this is a breed intended to retrieve the prey from hunting.

3. In the event that you'll be gone for an extended period of time, make sure to have someone take your dog outside to exercise and play as well as to keep her company.
