Chihuahua Yorkie

my nine week old chihuahua yorkie mix has been found to have parvo is this a cureable diease?

i have taken her to 2 different vets and she has been tested positive for the diease she was throwing up and and not eating or drinking the frist place i went to told me to cure this diease it would be between 2500 to 3000 dollars which i do not have the next doctor told me she would be fine because it not to far along and that it wouldn't be that much now i have no clue about how much it would cost to treat this diease or what should be done if anyone with a simular story can give me a clue with what i'm dealing with here it would be greatly appreciated because the way this vet is talking he saying he'll keep her for 2 days or so and she'll be fine the other place want to keep her for a week or more she had her frist shots 3/15/07for parvo-distemper she started to get sick 3 days after i got her from the breeder which was 3/17/07 could it also be from the vaccine they gave her?

That is really high it is usually 5 to 8 hundred but they do need lots of fluid and it is a mess to clean once the diarhea kicks in, go to parvoguard and call their business they know a lot and can help you make a decision. just google parvo guard and get the phone number there is somone there all the time. 3 days I would see if you get a refund or help with the vet bills you are entitled. Most states do have a puppy lemon law for infectous disease up to 10 days from date of purchase for a full or partial refund and help with half the vet bills. Hope this helps.

Yorkies can be great pets, but just like all other dog breeds, they have their fair share of health issues. This article will you understand the common health issues associated with Yorkie dogs.

Hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, most commonly happens when Yorkies have too much time between meals. Bladder stones are common in Yorkies. They form in the urinary tract, and can cause the inability to urinate, and even death. Some signs of bladder stones in Yorkies are blood in their urine, and less frequent urinating. A simple x-ray can determine if their is a bladder stone there.
Sensitive skin is another common issue among Yorkies. Many have allergies and will bite or scratch their skin, which leads to damaging their skin. A Veterinarian can suggest a type of lotion depending on you're Yorkies condition.
Delicate digestive systems can cause Yorkies to have diarrhea and vomiting from diet changes or not eating the correct meals.

Cats and birds can get along - it just depends on the animals themselves, and how you go about introducing them to each other. For starters, keep the cage out of the kitten's reach. Best marine fish combination for a 20 gallon tank?

Right now I am cycling my tank and i am thinking of what fish i could put in it.Please help!

it depends on the kind of tank. if i were you i would go for 2 clown fish and a cleaner shrimp. a 20g somewhat restricts you to smaller fihs, but don't let that phase you. if you are a beginner, it may be harder than a bigger tank, but so long as you keep a close eye on your water parameters you should be fine.

Marine aquarium water changes are part of the basic maintenance tasks that must be performed on a regular basis to have a saltwater tank that is not only clean and clear but also full of healthy vibrant fish. Water changes are not difficult to perform but there are a few things that need to be done to make sure that you do not harm your fish in the process.

Tips For Successful Marine Aquarium Water Changes

Let the new seawater mix with a small power head for at least a few hours to let all the chemicals that make up the salt mix fully dissolve and to also let any ammonia that sometimes forms in freshly mixed seawater to dissipate.
Add a heater to the mixing bucket and make sure that the water is the same temperature as the main tank. You can buy a larger watt heater then would normally be needed to quickly bring the temperature up.
Check to make sure the salt levels are the same in the water you will be adding to the saltwater aquarium. If they vary to much some of the more delicate marine fish could suffer from osmotic shock and this can lead to stress and disease out breaks.
When removing the old water from your marine aquarium make sure to vacuum the gravel to remove any lose debris that may have settled in the gravel. Not doing this can lead to a build up of organics that can fuel algae growth.
Unplug all your filters and heaters to avoid heater breakage and dry running pumps.
Add the new water to the tank slowly so you do not disturb your marine fish to much or kick up to much dirt.
Change at least 25% of your water on a monthly basis, you can do it as one large water change or split it up into two or three smaller changes.
Use a brand name high quality salt mix to avoid any impurities that can fuel algae growth in a saltwater tank.
Remember to plug all your heaters and filters back in and make sure they are operating correctly

Does a pet dog see the world in color or black and white?

I have a beautiful family dog with nice light brown eyes, that wags its tail alot. He is a very happy playful family dog. I sometimes wonder, do certain pet animals such as dogs and cats see in color OR black and white?

Dogs are red-green color blind. They see a brighter and less detailed world when compared to humans. Peripheral vision is better than humans (dogs see more of the world), but distance is not judged quite as well. Dogs excel at night vision and the detection of moving objects. Dogs have much better night vision for 2 reasons:

They have more rods (which enable night vision).
They have a structure called the Tapetum Lucidum
This is a reflective surface behind the retina (area including the light sensitive cells) that reflects light back through it (gives the eerie shine at night).

Adding a dog to the family is taking in another member of the household. As such, this member of the family will have a lot of needs and things that you are going to have to make sure they have throughout their life. Here is a look at some of the basic dog pet supplies you will need to keep around.

Bedding

You will likely start with a small bed for your puppy to use as a safe space as you bring him or her home. Puppies like having a bed that they can curl up in and feel like they are protected from the rest of the world. Once your puppy has grown out of his bed one of the first pet supplies you are going to need is a bigger bed that is more effective for your dog. Toys

If they do not have toys to play with, they will come up with their own version, which could be things in your home that you would prefer they not be playing with. As your dog grows, he will still need toys among those dog pet supplies that you purchase for him. But as he grows up his toys are going to need to grow with him as well. What this means is that you are going to need to look for toys that those new, stronger teeth and jaws can't rip through as easily.

Look for tough toys that can stand up to his rigorous play. Also over time you should be able to pay enough attention to your dog to see what kinds of toys he does or does not like. Some like stuffed animals. Some like tug of war ropes. Some like balls and nothing else. Still others like all of the above. The more you are paying attention to your dog as he grows, and what he likes, the more you will know what kind of dog pet supplies to purchase for him.

In this busy day and age most people struggle to find time to do everything they want, and quite often spending time with the family cat is sacrificed for other things, such as TV and work. This is not only bad for your owner-cat relationship but also for your health and the health of your cat as pet owners who frequent with their pets are generally more healthy than non pet owners.

There are however some simple games that you can play with your cat that are fun for both of you, and don't require too much of your time.

3 Fun Games To Play With Your Cat

1) Cat's love to chase things, we all know this and know that they cannot help themselves. Using either a torch or preferably a laser pointer, start waving the light in front of your cat and watch them chase after it. You can run the light in circles, across the room, up the walls and the cats just love it. Whenever i pick up the laser pointer they get really excited and start purring, it's great fun and lets you bond with your cat.

2) Another chasing game that gives you some exercise as well is to get piece of string and move along with one end trailing behind you on the ground. Most cat's can't resist the urge to chase it and enjoy being able to pounce on it.

3) One game that younger cats enjoy is what i like to call hide and seek. Basically you hide behind something, get their attention, then duck back down and hide again. It's a bit like peek-a-boo with a small child but some cats enjoy it just as much.
