Cat Collar Bell
Is it cruel to have a bell on a cats collar that jangles when it moves?
obviously i cats life with a bell on it would be different to a bell-less cat, what do you reckon?

SC that is terrible you sound like a very vindictive person, i hope your cat runs away and some kind person takes off the bell which must make your cat deeply insane and unhappy. Why can't people understand that cats are killers, they are hunters you cannot suppress an animals instinct without making it unhappy! Humans are clever enough to be able to farm for food, cats can't they need to hunt its part of the nature, take that away and you strip them off their independence and happiness.

It is cruel in a sense,.....KITTY'S A SITTING TARGET!!!
If outdoor, it may warn the birds, BUT also it tells a coyote, dog or other predator exactly where the cat's located,.. even in pursuit or hiding.
The cat may get use to the consistant jingle sound, voiceless kitty has no choice.
However, it has no where to run or hide with that bell as a beacon on it!
(all my cats are indoor cats, so I have no worries as far as the perils and dangers the outdoors may have)
*~Also, twice in the past 5 yrs., here in Western Canada (B.C.), construction wkers. have dug up coyotes' dens with a mass of cat/sm. dog collars in there. This was discovered during development of property into residential areas.
It indicates that many pets were snatched and taken back to coyotes liar for food. In write-up & media also said that some of the collars (all sorts+colors) had ID tags, "bells", name tags on them.
So if your pet disappears from the great outdoors, please don't hasten or assist with the jingle-jangle bells.
