The main thing about dog care and dog grooming is the benefits are enormous, from the happiness and health of your dog to the enjoyment and saving made by you, these are just a couple of examples, and below is an extract from a chapter entitled ‘The Benefits of Grooming’ from The Perfect Dog Grooming Guide by Alan Brown which I feel shows the benefits that can be gained through grooming and dog care, some of which are too easily overlooked or underrated by many dog owners;

The first thing I would like to drawer your attention to, and to end any rumors that you may have heard is that grooming your dog does improve their health in many ways which we will mention a little more through this chapter. As well as this benefit you will also find that your relationship with your dog and the affection they show you will be somewhat increased. Also through grooming your dog you will come to know them better and have the opportunity to spot possible health issues that may have gone unnoticed previously.

So let us break these benefits down a little and go through them piece by piece; reverting to the health benefits we mentioned, firstly when we think dog care and grooming we immediately think of brushing our dog so let´s start there. When you brush your dog you remove all the dead hair from their coat, leaving only the healthy, this eliminates many of the bad odors emitted by your dog’s coat, as well as helps to keep them cooler, looks cleaner and reduces your dogs scratching and itching.

To make grooming your dogs coat easier and to help maintain the goodness reached through grooming it is advisable to bathe your dog and use a quality dog shampoo regularly – although you must pay attention to over bathing your dog, like humans you can easily strip the natural oils from the coat and reduce the healthiness that way. We mentioned dog shampoo, and that was deliberately mentioned, as human shampoo contains different ingredients and must not be used on our poets under any circumstances.

Another benefit of grooming or brushing the coat is the stimulation it causes to the blood flow which in turn increases and improves the blood supply to the hair follicles and aids the overall health of the dog’s coat. Also brushing has a similar effect as massage and can aid the stimulation of the lymphatic node which is another means of improving your dog’s health, and we shall cover this a little more in another chapter.

Grooming also consists of dental hygiene and care of the eyes and ears…

This shows how dog care is not only good for your dog, but for you also, and you can benefit a whole lot more from the content of The Perfect Dog grooming Guide which can be seen at www.Perfect-Dog-Grooming.com.

Mull over the Chweenie! Huh, you say?! The Dachshund Mix is a unique breed, merging all of the good characteristics of its relatives, the Chihuahua and the Miniature Dachshund.wholesale dog breeders do not produce this odd combination deliberately; but natural desire sometimes insists and voila! The part of the name "weenie" is taken from the nickname for Dachshunds: “weiner dogs” because of their elongated, slim, weiner bodies. The look is so cute you can barely keep from hugging them!

What qualities of the two types merge in the chweenie? It has been suggested that the Chihuahua was developed to contain the rat population in Mexican cities, where the mutts used to roam in wholesale dog gangs to find prey. But they graduated to become the darlings of celebrities, especially starlets. Tucked in bags and going with their best human friends to dining establishments, wholesale dog shops, and all around town, the little dogs became a mark of success. As tiny as just two pounds, with straight up ears, long-haired or short-haired, of brindle or tricolor, the Chihuahua is the epitome of the pampering that people do to coddle animal friends. Remember the photographs of Paris Hilton with her fascinating Chihuahua? These little darlings get dressed up; groomed; have trinkets put in their hair, and they nuzzle blissfully with their besotted owners!

The Dachshund is nearly the contrary. It was trained as a working dog. It is a real scent hound, locating its target mainly by scent, although its hearing is very sharp as well. Its broad front, longer floppy ears (that can also perk up straight), squat limbs and extended back make it well-suited for going after burrowing prey and, in fact, it was at first a canine expert in hunting badgers. The Dachshund is amazingly steadfast, but not necessarily enamored of people other than its own. The miniature Dachshund has the characteristics of its bigger counterparts, but presented in a tiny torso. Even as a miniature dog, it is not inclined to exhibit the wholesale dog human worship that the Chihuahua wants.

Put Miniature Dachshund and Chihuahua together and what can you expect? A little mutt with ears that are either straight up or flopped down, barrel chest, extended back, but often without the stumpy limbs of the Dachshund. The Miniature Dachshund/Chihuahua exhibits some of the yappy characteristics of the Chihuahua, but hunting instinct runs deep and the chweenie usually will be enthused about the opportunity to seek out game in his backyard. The cheweenie does not understand that it is a miniature and won't limit itself to small game, so don't allow it to get loose in the fields! Don’t count on dressing up your chweenie or transporting it around with you to the upscale wholesale dog grooming salons; they are too "just dog" for the kind of pampering that Chihuahuas naturally inspire.

The chweenie: really, really delightful but rugged. If you bring one home, you won't have second thoughts

Grooming your pet is one of the most important duties for you as a dog owner should do in keeping your pet healthy and clean. The lack of the grooming may cause the dog to encounter many types of diseases. First steps of grooming consists of activities such as maintenance of the dog's coat, nails and ears. The maintenance of the coat mainly consists of enrichment measures like proper bathing, combing, drying of skin by dryers, and more. The animal need not be bathed daily and this helps to protect the skins characteristics like insulation feature.

You can use sharp pet grooming clippers or electric dog clippers designed for canines for trimming dog hair. It is better to have the dog stand on a raised place and hence, the control of the animal is easier. Ear canals need to be checked frequently and sterile cotton may be used for cleaning your pets ears. This is important in keeping your dog from getting an ear infection. Grooming associated guidelines need to be followed strictly by the dogs owner. Use a medicated dog shampoo and a dog shampoo conditioner that is made for dogs. Combing needs to be carried out with a soft pet hair brush. There are a variety of brushes available and depending on the type of breeds. If you're not sure which type to get, ask your vet what he recommends for a pet grooming brush. Grooming your pet, either by a comb or a soft pet hair brush needs to be carried out daily. Be sure to clean up the access hair to keep it from blowing all over your house.

Nail clipping is one of the first steps of grooming activities. Live nail areas can be easily clipped away and are always light colored than the reddish area of the nail in the higher position. During the holding of your dog's feet by you, always have a firm grip. If not, the dog will take an upper hand during the nail clipping and some injury may occur. Don’t clip too much because this may lead to injuries of nail. Similarly, you need to carry all the materials required for the nail clipping with you before the start of the procedure.

You should always keep your dog groomed and clean. Grooming isn't limited to brushing and bathing your pet. Dental care and teeth brushing not only improves your dogs appearance, but also helps keep him healthy and free of oral diseases.

Dog grooming is one of the most important tasks you have to regularly do with your dog. Although, a variety of dogs and each dog breed will differ when it comes to hair coat and as to which process is best for the care of your dog breed's coat. Dogs with short hair should be brushed and dogs that have long haired should be combed cautiously followed by brushing strokes to elicit luster to their hair coat.

Brushing your dog's hair from top to tips all the way down to the skin will invigorate blood circulation to supports growth of skin cells. As a result, this will help release and take out flakes of dander. Daily brushing is still recommended to be the best, but in these chaotic times, brushing more than a few times in a week will aid in keeping the normal dog tidy and hygienic. In some cases, there are dogs that shed and it is vital to habitually groom to aid in the removal of the dog's dead hair. This will also help lessen the amount of dog hair scattered in the house if it's an indoor dog.

It is hard to remove the mats in your dog's hair. Use a one or two teeth comb in attempting to tease the mat. Take the comb and work it all the way through the mat as distant from your dog's skin as you can if combing doesn't work and you were left with no choice but to cut the mat out.

Dogs should be given a bath as rarely as possible. Repeated hair washing takes away all the natural oils they have and affects the coat to dry off and eventually becomes rough. It is best that you use a mild shampoo when it is necessary for you to wash your dog. Below are the steps you have to take in giving bath to your dog:

· Use a tub or basin in giving your dog a bath and make your dog stand inside.

· You have put in cotton in both ears of your dog.

· You can put a few drops of mineral oil to his both eyes.

· Pour water and apply shampoo then lather.

It is recommended that you work on a good lather in giving bath to your dogs. You also have to check the directions indicated on the label regarding the time duration you need to leave the shampoo on your dog if you are used to applying flea/tick shampoo. Wash your dog well once done and towel him dry before he begins to shake and wiggle. Other dogs prefer having a blow dry to make them dry while other dogs prefer towel drying.

As for young puppies, you have to give them time to learn on how to stand while you give them a bath. Specific shampoos for puppies are available in the local market. Commonly known as "puppy shampoos" and considered to be very mild. You have to ensure that your puppies are safe and secure. Sooner or later, your puppy will gain trust from the activity and will enjoy taking his bath.

Dog's nails are also important part of grooming. It is suggested that dog's nails should be cut at least once every two months. Reports say that this is would depend mainly on the frequency and amount of exercise your dog does and the type of exterior looks he walks on. Never use the ordinary scissors in cutting the nails of your dog. There are specifically designed dog nail trimmers that are available on animal stores. One lesson is that you cut your dog's nails just after the pink blood line. If the blood line is not evident due to dark colored nails, the nail cut should be done by cutting the hook-like part of the nail.

The dog's eyes also require frequent care specifically dog breeds with big stuck out eyes like a Shih Tzu. The big protruding eyes type of dogs has an increased risk of harm and accidental bumps, scratches or bruises. Shih Tzus have a longer face hair that may cause irritation to their eyes. It is also imperative to maintain the hair out of their eyes. Tiny barrettes can help keep the hair out of their eyes. Eye products to relieve mild irritations of the eyes are available in the market. Continuous irritation may cause a chronic infection. If this happens, you should seek a medical advise from a veterinarian.

Likewise, the ears of your dog are very delicate and sensitive. The typical dog's ear infection normally begins with irritation of the inside ear lining. This is the main reason why it is important for you to put on cotton inside their ears to keep the soap and water out during bath time. Other factors that cause irritation are foreign objects, ear mites and excessive earwax. There are dogs that have their ear canals full of hair and need to have the hair removed very gently (remove only a few hairs at a time). There are products available at pet stores that you can get for the ear mite control. If more pain or chronic infections occur, it is recommended to seek you veterinarian's advice.

Moreover, other items you can consider in providing the best grooming for your dog is a Potty litter box which keeps your dog from leaving their pooch anywhere in your house and maintain cleanliness and proper grooming. The potty area should not be just near your carpeted floors inside your house. It may be on near the dirty kitchen or somewhere that does not have any carpet. The good news is that we have potty training systems out in the market which can save you from cleaning their urine or feces every single time they mess up your home.

Porch Potty is the best tool you'd ever need in completing the potty training phase of your dogs. It is the best tool ever invented to aid in teaching your dogs the right way of doing it. It saves you time, money and the hassles of cleaning up your dog's mess! Definitely, this is one tool that will aid you in ensuring proper training for grooming in your dogs.

Just like we need certain equipment for our daily lives, our pets also require certain items to help them maintain healthy, happy lives. When choosing dog equipment there are a number of different items that can be purchased but some are essential for dog owners to have. Providing a dog with shelter, safety and confirm its identity. Consider these areas to get you started.

Identification Equipment

Dog tags should be purchased and attached to the dog's collar or harness for identification. The tag typically includes the owner's phone number, address, zip code and the pet's name. In most areas a dog license will also be required this will include the identification number issued to the dog and contact information for its licensing organization.

Basic Equipment

A dog collar and leash is needed for taking your pet on walks to ensure they don't run out into traffic and get injured. A leash is also needed to comply with leash laws, which in some areas require that dogs be secured when not on their owner's property. If your dog goes missing the tag attached to the leash will help him be identified and returned home; making it essential that a quality durable leash that will not easily tear or be yanked off by your pet is chosen. If a dog will be sleeping outside a dog house and kennel are ideal for protecting your animal in all weather conditions and offering safe shelter. Inside a dog bed will provide your animal a comfortable place for sleeping and resting. Every dog you have will also require their own feeding and water bowls to help them feel secure in their environment.

Grooming Equipment

Keeping your dog clean will require getting them equipment specifically made for dogs. A dog grooming brush, comb, shampoo and conditioner are a must for keeping your pet free from fleas and other pest. Nail clippers will keep your dog from scratching furniture in the home or accidentally stretching family members. Clippers and shears may also be needed for managing your pet's hair to keep it from becoming matted and odor free. Tooth scalers can remove plague from dog teeth, eye drops can remove gunk from eyes and ear powder can be sprayed on the ears for keeping ears dry and keeping infections away.

Equipment for Exercise and Fun

For your dog to have an active life, equipment that keeps your dog entertained should be used. For boredom reducers' sock balls are great for tug-of-war and tossing games and flying discs are great for playing fetch. Chew toys will keep your dog something to gnaw besides your shoes and furniture. Rawhide bones, biscuits, chewy treats and more can be used to reward good behavior. Dental sticks are useful at improving the appearance and health of your dog's teeth. For improving muscle strength, stamina and resistance of your pet a dog treadmill is the ultimate purchase. They are ideal for active dogs or those on the brink of becoming obese. Dog treadmills are useful when bad weather or time constraints prevents you from taking your dog on a walk or exercising outdoors or if you just want your pet to have more versatility in their workouts.

Dog Grooming

How much would you pay for mobile dog grooming?

I am researching business opportunities. This is something that my area does not have and could potentially be a huge hot item.
Doesn't matter where you are, how much would you pay for someone to bring a full service van to your house and groom your dog right there in that van in front of your house? We're talking 45-60 minutes and your dog pops out clean, trimmed and ready to go.

I use a mobile dog groomer. We pay $40 for the whole shebang. Wash, cut, brush, dry, and nail clip. Plus, the groomer gives them a treat when he's done. They love him.

When my family and I went to pick up our dog from the Corgi rescue in Kentucky, we did not know what to expect. We knew generally what she would look like, but we didn't know anything about her behavior or her strange little habits. But when we finally saw Maggie for the first time, she was a wild little dog, running around in her pen, barking at all of the other dogs and her coat was very thin and coarse. The lady at the rescue, Jean, recommended that to fix her coat we take her to get groomed immediately. Jean recommended two places two us. She told us about one place for dog grooming in Florence, KY and another place for dog grooming in Hebron, KY. We chose the place in Florence just because it was closer and as soon as we got Maggie home we made an appointment for her to be groomed.

On the day of the grooming, Maggie knew she was going somewhere special. We put her in the car and took her about ten minutes down the road to get her fur coat treated. The lady who was ready to groom Maggie picked her up and placed her in the tub. And that is when it all started.

Maggie really did not like the water, you could see it by the look in her eye. She looked very pitiful standing in the water while the nice lady gave her a nice shampooing. Maggie did, however, like the woman who was giving the bath. Maggie showed her affection by licking her ear every time the woman leaned over to shampoo and rinsed the side that was facing away from the woman.

After her bath, Maggie was taken over to a table top to be dried and brushed. This was the first time we found out that Maggie does not like any kind of electric household appliance. As soon as the blow dryer started Maggie jumped and tried to get off of the table. However, the groomer held her very nicely and tried to tell Maggie that everything was going to be alright.

Finally, after her fur was dried, the groomer began Maggie's favorite part of the grooming, brushing her fur. My mom and I found out on this trip that Maggie loves being brushed. She loves any kind of attention, but being brushed made her very happy. It seemed like a nice reward to her after she must have felt she was being somewhat tortured by the bath and blow dryer.

Maggie's first grooming was the first time we really got to know our little dog. We saw that she didn't like her baths, but she was willing to tolerate it because her new family was there. Also, we saw first hand her fear of any kind of electric household appliance as she tried to runaway from the blow dryer. And finally, we saw how we could give some of the love she gives us back to her, by petting her and brushing her. Although she might not have been the best dog at the groomer's, Maggie's first experience at the dog groomer's helped us learn a lot about our new little family member.

Connor R. Sullivan has two dogs that enjoy grooming in Florence KY and grooming in Hebron KY for their washing sessions.

Do I have a right to be mad at my friend (10 points!!!)?

Im 14 and my friend is ALWAYS bragging and it really annoys me. I try to just deal with it and go on, she is basicly my only friend and me and my sister share a room right, well she texted me and said "My family is re-doing our bedrooms and me and katy have to share a room for a WEEK!!!!! >:O" and i thought it was really stupid because its only a week and i told her "you dont have to make such a big deal out of it at least you dont have to share a room with your sis for years, a week is nothing" And so im pretty sure she is mad. But dont you think thats annoying? and she always tells me how she makes money like by grooming dogs, making bows, blah and i dont really care and she tells me all the time. And she always tells me how they are redoing there entire house and i get annoyed. Im sorry if you think this is pedy bickering. I just get so annoyed.

Sounds like she kind of walks all over you.
You need to stand up for yourself -- and if/when she gets mad, just be okay with it. She'll come back and apologize when she realizes that you aren't going to bow down anymore.

You definitely have a right to be annoyed. She keeps trying to put herself above you, and that's not a real friend.

Help Me Be Healthy, Help Me Live Longer.

WOOF WOOF!! BOW WOW!! Oops sorry! I did not realize I was talking to you guys and not my friend Rusty. Hi, I am Bruno, the Labrador. I am 5 years old. It seems my dad and mom are quite busy these days with work and things that seem to never get done. Initially the whole family was crazy about me. They used to take me for walks and runs. They used to show me off to neighbors and friends.

As I grew older and they got busier, all this stopped. Now they hardly even have the time to take me for a walk. They fill my plate with fattening treats and stuff from the table that they eat. I've started putting on weight in my waist and hips. Earlier, I could sit back on my legs. Now, due to my weight, I slouch to the side. My chest hurts now and I have a hard time breathing too. My owners no longer take care of the quality of my food. They just get any dog food and pay no attention to the nutrients. Most of the dog foods are laden with fat and as a result I have developed lots of fatty tissues in my body. It is harder to walk these days as my legs ache from the extra pounds. I get out of breathe so easily now. My chances for disease are now increased as a result of the obesity. I wanted to help you learn to take care of your pets so that they will remain healthy, agile and have long lives.

Although fat dogs may seem cute, there could be a host of issues going on. Joint or locomotion difficulties, extra pounds put added stress on joints, bones, ligaments and muscles. Heart and respiratory disease, heart and lungs have to work harder to provide adequate oxygen and circulation. Also, extra fat in the chest cavity and around the heart muscle can decrease the efficiency of the heart and lungs. Diabetes, just like people, diabetes is much more common in obese dogs and cats. Liver disease, obese animals are prone to liver disease. Heat intolerance, excessive fat has insulating properties that makes obese animals uncomfortable and unable to tolerate heat. Skin problems, overweight animals often have trouble grooming themselves. The rolls of skin built up by fat deposits can often harbor dirt, bacteria and other harmful organisms. Gastrointestinal disorder, Pancreatitis is seen all too often in obese dogs. This condition is painful and life threatening.

Here are a few ways in which you can care for your dog so that they have a longer and better life:

1. Don't let your dog become a couch potato. Take him out for a run everyday at least for 20 minutes otherwise he will put on weight.

2. Pay attention to the diet: Sometimes the printed dog food labels do not tell the entire story. Make sure that your canine friend has a diet rich in meat, vegetables and healthy ingredients. If you have started a weight loss food for dogs, make sure it is healthy. Don't sacrifice nutrition at a time when the dog needs it the most as the weight comes off.

3. Exercise: If you find that you can't take your dog out for a walk, then get a ball to throw a ball so that he can run and retrieve it.

4. Play: Dog love to play and enjoy your attention. Play games like racing, wrestling or fetch to burn calories.

5. Winter months: In the winter months if it becomes quite difficult to exercise with your dog, try to find indoor games.

Obesity, whether in humans or dogs can lead to a decreased life span.
