Here's what you should do to help your dog with separation issues.  When your dog is in a highly excited state of mind and is jumping around uncontrollably...immediately turn your back and walk away

Do not say anything to your dog. Just turn and walk away. In the dog world being ignored is a warning that the behavior will not be tolerated.

Once your dog calms down, then greet him with a good boy. Do this consistently and your dog will soon learn what is appropriate behavior and what is not.

Remember to wait for  your dog  to calm down then go ahead and acknowledge him. Consistency will make a big difference in the long run.

If you greet your  dog while he is ramped up you will get the opposite effect and could make the situation worse. He will think that it's okay for him to feel nervous and stressed because you are communicating to him by your actions when you give him attention that he is right to feel that way.  

It's really easy to apply this technique and others. But you've got to be willing to put in the time and effort if you want to see positive results.

How to keep a dog from breaking out of or escaping a Invisible Underground Dog Fence

There are a lot of reasons a dog may break his fence boundary. The first thing I would look at is the dog fence collar. Is the battery good, most batteries are good for four months give or take. Some electronic collars malfunction and will start to eat the battery as soon as two days after it has Benn installed.

In the case the dog fence collar is killing the battery you should contact your local office. Most professional pet systems will have a local office. If there is no local office contact the manufacturer. After you verify the underground invisible dog fence has a good battery check the fit. The fence collar should not be loose both metal posts must make contact with the dogs skin. Thick hair may also prevent contact if that is the case you may need to thin the neck area out a little.

Ok you have checked all that and the dog escapes. Most underground dog fence systems has two adjustments. First is the signal field adjustment, if this is to small most dogs can run out in many cases with out a correction at all. Most dog fence systems have a short delay and if your fence transmitter is only set up to a two foot signal field it needs to be turned up. I would suggest at least six feet on a average size property of a half acre. If there is two or more acres fenced then there is no reason not to have at least a ten foot signal field.

Next is the underground invisible dog fence receiver. Most fence systems can be adjusted for a stronger correction. This means a stronger shock and removing the delay. Some containment systems will have a adjustment on the transmitter or the fence receiver itself. See owners manual for your brand they are all a little different. Invisible dog fence brand is not adjustable by the transmitter or on the receiver you will need to have a tech come out or visit the local office.

If the dog is still leaving the containment area after these adjustments find out where. Most dogs will leave the fence area in the same spot, the driveway is the common. I have found that a tie out in the area where your dog is leaving is very affective. For a period of about two weeks tie the dog out with the fence receiver on. Leave the slack in the tie out long enough to almost get out of the containment area but not all the way out. I know you got the fence so you don't have to use a tie out but a couple of weeks of this is what I have found to be the most affective to break the dogs bad habit and keep your pet at home.

Dogs are social animals, and a friendly dog in a stressful situation would never attack or bite. However, many cases of individuals bitten by dogs belie this. Thus, it is important to know how to prevent dogs from biting.

If you want to own a dog or already own one and you want to prevent dogs from biting anyone, there are two things you need to remember: first, you have to train your dog to be friendly; and second, you have to avoid putting him in stressful situations.

Dogs feel stressed by unfamiliar objects, people or places, or by unpredictable behavior. However, the degree of unfamiliarity and unpredictability is different from dog to dog. In a crowd, some dogs are friendly to strangers while others are not. What spells the difference between these dogs isn’t breed but how well they were raised. Thus, you can prevent dogs from biting if you properly train your dog.

How to prevent dogs from biting

Although there is no guarantee that your dog will never attack or bite anyone, these six tips will significantly reduce the risks of your dog attacking or biting someone:

1. Familiarity with people and environment will help you to prevent dogs from biting. Create positive and pleasant encounters for your dog with objects, people and places within the first 8 to 16 weeks of his life, especially with those he would likely encounter during his lifetime. To prevent dogs from biting introduce them immediately to various kinds of objects in your house and outside your house (e.g. your vacuum cleaner), to various kinds of people (e.g. the postman), and to various kinds of environments (e.g. your car). Introduce him also to grooming, to the vet, and to other animals, especially other dogs. Some dogs don’t think they’re dogs. You don’t want your dog to have an identity crisis, do you?

2. Familiarize dogs to being touched to prevent dogs from biting as early as possible but supervise dogs when they are with young children as much as possible. It is better your dog realizes early on that you and others mean no harm when you hold him since you can’t avoid touching him or him being touched by other people, especially when he has to be groomed or to be brought to the vet. However, how he is held is important to him. If he is held improperly, as most young children would hold him, he becomes terrified of being touched.

3. Another tip to prevent dogs from biting is to create a home for dogs where they can find peace, safety and security and teach others to respect it. Your dog would encounter at least several stressful situations in his lifetime and that’s all but normal in a dog’s life. However, if dogs has a haven to go home to, it will prevent dogs from biting, as they would more likely dash to their dog house rather than attack.

4. Tie your dog when walking him in public but not more than 8 hours in one place. Dogs tend to get temperamental and aggressive when tied since they experience barrier frustration. They are more likely to attack and bite when approached since it seems to them their territory is being intruded and, because they cannot flee, they fight the intruder. However, when walking your dog, he is better on than off a leash. Supervised dogs are less likely to attack and bite, and also you can keep a better eye on them with a leash and can prevent dogs from biting if they encounter a stressful situation.

5. Another way to prevent dogs from biting is to teach dogs with proper and productive behavior. Though it is highly recommended to enroll your dog, including your family, in a home obedience class, it is just as advisable to consistently reinforce correct and appropriate behavior. Your dog can’t tell the difference between rough-play and real-life situations so don’t show or teach him aggressive behavior, like chasing after or attacking others even for fun. If he exhibits aggressive behavior towards other people or animals, like growling when someone comes too close to his food bowl, seek professional help. It is important to stop dogs biting and aggressive behavior as early as possible.

It’s not all that difficult to prevent dogs from biting and raise them to be friendly, especially if you see dogs as another being that deserves love and attention as much as anyone else does, as much as you do. Most often than not, dogs that attack and bite are neglected dogs. So always remember that behind a good dog is a good pet owner.

Cat Food dishes are a very common and easily found cat food item. Yet sometimes, if there isn't a shop in your near you might have to go online to find the right cat food dish. In which case you should first compare a few different cat food dishes and cat food bowls before desiding for one spesific cat food bowl.

You can also compare prices for your cat food dish in a few different shops, but mostly the prices for cat food dishes will be the same, since it's such a low priced item any way.....

Plastic Cat Food Bowl - safe or not?

Plastic cat food bowls are commonly sold in pet supply stores and are easy to clean, can not be broken and are usually very cheap too.

Nevertheless, plastic cat food dishes are not highly recommended.
They tend to get scratched easily and could house bacteria that will make your cat or kitten sick.

The plastic cat food dishes also get slime on the sides and that can caus serious problems for your cat and for you too.

Our cats like to play with any water dish or cat food dish and fling them across the floor causing a lot of mess and water. There for plastic bowls aren't recommended since they are easier to fling and knock over and can really caus a big mess!

WARNING: Sometimes, a very cheap plastic cat food dish might come with a very sharp edge that could perhaps cut your cats lips or skin. Therefor check any plastic cat food dishes before buying any cat food dish or bowl.

Stainless Steel Cat Food Bowls:

Stainless steel bowls are solled almost everywhere. Stainless steal cat food bowls are dishwasher safe and sturdy. However there are some minuses to consider before buying any stainless steal cat food dish....

Some people think that stainless steel cat food bowls are not a good choice either since they give the cat food a bad metallic taste. Although I never had a bad experience with steal cat food dishes, (since I have never bought a stainless steal cat food dish for my cats) I can imagine that it probably would have the same affect as our steal pott that made us sick!

However since i personly have not tried it, you could give it a go if you wanted to!

3 Cat Food Bowl Tips:

1. Whatever type of dishes you purchase, make sure they are washed out and refilled every day with clean fresh water.

2. Use a wet sponge to rub the sides and corners of the cat food dish to make sure that no bacterias and slime are growing there.

3. TIP: When you choose any cat food dishes for your cat, buy something that is sturdy, dishwasher safe and made of metal or ceramic that wont brake if your cat/s knock it over and wont make the cats food taste bad!
