House Crate
Help!! I have 2 weeks to cure my 5 month old brug pup from urinating in the house. She is crate trained.?
Submissive urination is a problem too.
a Brug is a brussells griffon/pug mix. She does not submissive urinate with me, but if my kids or wife try to pet or pick her up it's a FLOOD!
if the pup is crate trained, then your problem is essentially solved.
crate it when you aren't watching it, and take it out often. if the pup potties while outside, you can keep it out of the crate WITH YOU WATCHING IT for a little while.
the very minute you must take your eyes off it- back into the crate it goes.
if the dog does not potty while outside, then it must go back into the crate.
do not ever allow the pup to run around the house when your eyes are not on it.
ALWAYS ignore submissive urination. ALWAYS, or it will get worse.
i bet you've been punishing the pup for that?
easy on the corrections- remember- this is a PUPPY.
administer scoldings as if you are disciplining a 5 year old human child.
hitting, yelling, etc. will only make the situation worse.

If you are a first time dog owner, you may well find yourself overwhelmed with the choice of dog cages and crates available, and you may even be wondering whether you actually need a dog cage or not.If you are a first time dog owner, you may well find yourself overwhelmed with the choice of dog cages and crates available, and you may even be wondering whether you actually need a dog cage or not.
There are many reasons why you may need a dog cage. First of all, it is much easier to house train a puppy via the crate training method. It is by far the simplest and fastest way to get your new pup used to doing his business outside, and not in the house.
Secondly, it will give your little pup a nice cosy spot to retreat to when the world becomes too busy for him. Pups need a quite place where they feel safe and protected, their den, and a cage can provide this for them.
If you are ever going to travel with your pup, you will need to have him restrained in the car while you do so. A cage will fit into the back of a car and is the only way to travel with a dog, at least when they are young as otherwise they'll be all over the place, posing a danger to you as a driver and all of your passengers. Dogs have also been known to get car-sick. If your pup does, it's so much more convenient when it is contained in their dog crate and not trailing all over your car.
You won't be able to keep an eye on your pup all day long, there will be times when you have to step out of the room to take care of your laundry, for example, or to pick up the kids from the bus stop. If you want to rest assured that your home and furniture won't be attacked while you are gone, a crate will help. Pop your pup in it when you can't be there to supervise him and you will have greater peace of mind about things. And if you think a pup can't wreak havoc on a home in the space of a few minutes, think again! They are very good at it actually!
Perhaps your dog is an outdoor dog, but there are times you need to bring him inside, for example in extreme weather or if your dog is not feeling well and you need to keep an eye on him. Again, under these circumstances you would find it much better to actually have a dog cage to put him in, in order to restrict his movement around the house.
So, as you can see, there are many good reasons why you should invest in a dog cage. When it comes down to it, really the main reason is that it will make your life much simpler, and you will be a happier pet owner if you are able to provide comfort and security for your dog, as well as a place where he can be happily restrained for a time when needed.
