Does anyone have a large parrot cage, macaw size?

I am looking for a large parrot cage preferably with a playtop to house a large macaw. Cage needs to be approx. 40-50 inches tall, at least 26 inches deep and 30-40 inches wide. Looking for a cage in the Central/Western Massachusetts or Hartford, CT area, but I will travel a bit further if need be. I will pick it up and pay you a fair price.

Have you checked in your local newspaper? Sometimes after the "pets" classifieds they list miscellaneous things (like cages). You may find something there.

If you find one make sure you disinfect it "thoroughly"!

No, for many reasons. You need to quarrintine new birds for at least thirty days. The new bird should be kept in a room with a separate air source than the room containing the other bird. If your bird hasn't showed any signs of illness after the first thirty days, then you can start introducing them to eachother. You should do this in a large room; set both birds on the floor across the room from eachother and see what happens. If they start fighting, separate them immideately. If all goes well, continue this for a few weeks until they're comfortable on the same playstand or perch together. After about a month, you can put them in the same cage, but not the coonure's old one. If you introduce a new parrot to another parrots cage, the original owner will usually become very territorial and attack the newcomer, even if it knows the new bird. You'll need to get a new cage and put them in at the same time if you want them housed together. For the first few days of them both being in the same cage, you should put two water bowls and two food bowls on opposite ends of the cage so one bird can't prevent the other from eating. Just make sure the new cage is very roomy with a ton of perches.
