ok so i just got my african grey parrot a super sized cage i just wonderd if i get a big log from the woods for him to climb on would it be safe for him? and whats good to use for home made toys

Don't use a log from the woods unless you know exactly what type of wood it is, and that it has no bugs whatsoever in or on it!

Some types of wood are toxic to birds, even just to climb on. Go to the pet store to get some ideas on the type of materials you can use for toys.

Remember, beaks are made for chewing, get wood toys and make sure you have backups...they turn hard wood into toothpicks in no time.

I just bought a toy for my cat. My dog is jealous. Any suggestions ?

The toy is a chickadee that makes chirping sounds like a real bird. The cats love it. It's small and they can bat it around easily. The trouble is that my toy poodle is jealous and wants the toy but it would last about five minutes with her because stuffed toys, especially small ones go fast around her once she finds how they make their sounds and I'm afraid the electronic parts would hurt her if she got hold of them.

I'll take newspaper or anything I have that will make any kind of noise when they crunch on it-that's what they want the toys for anyway. They are intrigued by the noises the toys make and they will tear them up to find out what it is. It's actually good for them because it keeps their minds active and constantly trying to analyze. You can also try getting her a stuffable toy which will also keep her mind busy.

Yes, parrots do masturbate. So long as his vent doesn't seem to be inflamed or otherwise irritated, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's just something that they do.

The only reason I could think of to take it away is if he starts to become ridiculously protective of it or even aggressive toward anyone who comes near his cage as a result. Beyond that, if it's not doing any harm then he can keep it.

I've run into this a number of times. It's rarely problematic.
