in my group of friends, i guess im like the ring leader?

everyone meets me at my locker, everyone expects me to make plans if were gunna hang out, im soposed to be the one to call everyone. i always am assumed to host the parties and they scedule everything in there lives around me, like if i can't do something they rescedule it. it is rediculus. i can't walk 3 steps without someone grabbing my books, or opening my locker, im a senior in high school and i want it to be easy and stress free! i don't know what to do!

The Golden Retriever is truly one of the most beautiful dogs on the planet.

They have a beautiful coat, an amazing face, a strong, sleek, and muscular body, a fantastic personality, a tail that never stops waging, and they are a joy to watch at work, when flushing a pheasant, swimming in the water, or chasing a Frisbee.

The Golden Retriever was originally bred as a hunting dog in Scotland, around 1908, but is now very popular as a house pet, a therapy dog in convalescent homes and children’s hospitals, and is used by law enforcement for drug detection.

Although they do not make very good guard dogs, they will bark loudly if a stranger approaches.

If you have children the Golden Retriever can be the perfect pet. Because of their natural nurturing instincts, and very gentle nature they make the perfect companion.

In 1974 President Gerald Ford made the First Family dog a Golden Retriever named Liberty.

If you are considering getting a Golden Retriever puppy, you need to find a reputable breeder that specializes in breeding Golden Retrievers.

There are plenty of pet shops and back yard breeders that are selling Goldens, that may have serious breed problems ranging from aggression, to hip and eye problems, and a host of other problems that may not be noticeable at the puppy stage.

A reputable breeder will check the blood lines of the parents carefully to make sure they do not have a history of these problems, before breeding. This will be your best chance at having a trouble free pet.

Training your Golden Retriever is not as hard as you may think. These are very intelligent dogs, and eager to learn. They want to please you, and hate to be scowled.

The first thing to remember is that puppies will be puppies, so don’t expect too much too soon.

You can start to bathroom train right away, but if there is anything around you care about within the puppies grasp like shoes, or your favorite slippers, I would put them away, because your puppy’s going to chew them if he gets them.

Give your puppy something of his own to chew. They are teething, and want to naturally chew things because their gums hurt. Make it clear early on that he or she is to chew what you gave them, and nothing else.

If you expect your Golden to respond to your commands, then you want to avoid confusing him. It’s easy to forget that they do not understand the English language.

They respond to certain sounds, or words, based on your body language, and tone of voice. The trick to making the training as simple as possible is to use a few basic words and stick with them.

If you want your Golden to get out of the trash, and you say “no” one time, and “stop” the next time, and then “hey” the next time, they never really get what you are telling them.

The six words that I have found over the years that work best are “NO” “SIT” “DOWN” “COME” "HEEL" and “STAY”. I find they work best if said without the dogs name. These are discipline words, and are better left by themselves.

It’s important that you show your Golden Retriever that you are the boss. You must establish that you are the leader to be successful with his training.

If you give one of your commands, and he does not comply, reinforce the command with a little different tone of voice until he complies.

If that still doesn’t work, don’t just walk away. That will send a bad message. Stick with it until you get the desired results. It will happen.

Never yell at your pet or hit them, or raise your hand in a gesture to do so. You also never want to use anything like a rolled up newspaper, or a belt, or any object of this type to discipline them.

This will only scare and confuse them, and loose their trust, which will make it much harder to achieve the results you are looking for.

If you use the word "No" Firmly, to stop him from what he is doing, or gently show him you want him to “Sit” or lay “Down”, or use the word “Come" when you want him to come to you, or say “Out” when it is time for her to go outside - I think you will be very surprised at how fast he or she learns.

Whatever words work for you are fine, as long as you keep them simple, and stay with the same words all the time I think you will get surprising results.

And don’t forget the most important word of all, GOOD. Using that word combined with boy or girl, or the dog’s name such as “Good Sammy”, can work wonders.

They learn to like that real fast. Saying Good Boy, or Good Girl, or What a Good Girl, with the right tone in your voice, combined with a pat on the head, a biscuit, or a rubbing of their belly, will practically send a Golden Retriever into orbit.

They are beautiful animals. Just be patient, and you will have a great friend for many years.

How can I make a ceramic like pet food dish?

I was wondering if there was a way I could make my own food dish for my dog or cats? [: (Without going to a pottery place to buy one.) Also, would there be any way for me to paint it, and keep it safe for the animals? Any suggestions would help! I always wanted to try this. Thanks!

I think crayola makes a clay that you can shape and it hardens under water. I used it once, and anything crayola makes should be safe for animal use. The paint is probably what you need to be careful about. Also if you buy a ceramic dish from a store that is oven safe you can buy a paintable glaze called stroke and coat that you can design and color with then bake in the oven. The heat makes it safe for consumable use.
Also, be friendly with a local school and ask if you can do it there with real clay and glazes.

You could clean yours like I did mine....

I carried it into the shower with me. I got it really, really clean and shiny. I did drop it when I slipped and it quit working... but it looks good.

The IP54 LCD enclosure is similar in design to the IP65 unit, however it is cooled differently, these units are cooled using the positive pressure system, this replaces the hot air in the enclosure with cool, clean air.

The above Ingress Protection codes are a European standard with the American equivalent being NEMA 4X for IP65. Now there is protection for all displays in all environments, no matter how hazardous.

Taking pictures of fish?

I've a bunch of beautiful fish that I want pictures of, but I can't get a good picture out of my camera. Does anyone have a few tips on taking pictures of fish inside of a fish tank with a digital camera?

Hi.
-If you can, use a separate flash light and not the one on the camera,to avoid the reflex of it in the glass.

-Use the flash light at 90 degrees ,respect to your position in front the glass .(on a side of the subject).

- Better if the lights are 2 ,one for each side of the subject.

-If you can't use flash light,use halogen light,positioned at the same angle(90 degrees respect to your position).
.In such a case remember to set the white balance on that kind of light.

-Put,all around the faces of the aquarium(but not to the front glass) a black drapery,or cardboard,to avoid parasite reflexes from other lights.
-To avoid the reflex of your image in the front glass,hide yourself and the camera beside the same black drapery,having only the lens passing through it.
-
-Don't use the auto focus system.Perhaps,it's focusing the front glass of the aquarium....Therefore use the manual focus.

-To avoid to have to "follow" the subject around the whole acuarium(and to be able to focus it easier),separate the fish from the others,with a sheet of glass close enough to the front glass of the acuarium.The fish will have to stay in this narrow space,for the time of the shot.
-Be sure,before to start working, to clean well the inside and outside part of the front glass of the fish tank...

What are Some Good Toys for Pet Mice?

I just adopted 2 aorable little pet mice from the humane society this past week, they are both boys, liter matges, and have lived together since birth. I have had pet mice in years past, but alwways in an aquarium, and one at a time. These cuties came in their own Habitrail.

I've had tons of mice in the past, and 1 thing they all loved to do was climb.
Buy some bird ladders and strap it on the roof, so they can climb upside down, and on the sides.
Do you have any plastic tubes? Usually mouse cages have holes to hook up these tubes into, and you can design them to go in loops and anyway you want. They can be a bit tough to clean, though. Petsmart has them.

For treats, cooked oatmeal is good as well. They love that in the morning. They LOVE grapes. Cheese is actually not good for them, as it's a bit fatty. The occasional peanut is good, as well.

If you are thinking of getting yourself a pet bird then you will need to do some homework first.

Have you already decided which bird variety you will choose? Are you going to have a large or a small bird?

All of these things have to be decided first, naturally.

The next thing, when you have decided on your type of bird - do you know their requirements. You cannot just put a bird in any old cage thinking it will be alright. This will not do.

The cage has to first suit the size of the bird, then you need to think about whether it is a climber or does it like to fly in its cage?

If it is a climber, like parrots and other birds of that type then you need a higher cage rather than low and wide. The bars need to be horizontal because your bird will use these as steps to get where he wants to be.In point of fact, horizontal bars are best for all birds, they will all climb at some point. Plus with vertical bars it is difficult to attach any toys.

If your bird is a flyer like canaries, finches etc. then the cage needs to be much wider but not too high and you need perches at either side because they like to fly between them. This is how they exercise their wings and keep themselves fit and healthy.

A general rule of thumb as to width is that it needs to be wider than your bird's wingspan, in the case of parakeets, cockatiels, parrots etc. Their wings should not touch either side when outstretched. Also for parrots etc. the perches should be high enough that their tail does not touch the floor when they are perching.

The next thing about the cage and this applies to all birds, the spacing between the bars needs to be smaller than their heads. Birds have a tendency to push their heads between the bars [if possible] and then they can't get back again and this can result in them doing themselves an injury.

You also have to be sure that the bars are strong enough, especially in the case of the parrot family. Their beaks are so strong that they will be able to bend anything that isn't a strong gauge wire. The last thing you want is to come home one day and the cage has been destroyed and your bird is flying free!

That is another thing - you need to give your birds freedom from their cage every day, an hour a day would be alright. First though you need to look at the room they will be loose in, are their any objects that they could either injure themselves on, or perhaps damage. Could they knock your precious ornaments to the floor?

I have heard tell of some avid bird owners who actually have a small tree or tree branch in a pot in the corner of the room where the bird has his freedom so it can perch and feel as though it is in the wild. That's dedication for you.

If you choose to buy a metal cage make sure it is metal that does not contain any toxins, it should NOT contain zinc for instance as this could give your bird anemia if it pecks and ingests particles. If it is painted it should the non-toxic powder-coated variety. This paint shouldn't flake for one thing and is totally safe for the bird.

Always make sure the water and feeding containers are not underneath perches otherwise they could contaminate their food and water with their droppings. The hooded variety of containers would be a good idea. They should either be placed away from perches or above the level of the perches. Either way they would be safe from contamination.

If you have wooden perches in the cage make sure they are changed regularly, when they get very soiled. It is virtually impossible to sanitize wood, germs and bacteria get right into the grain of the wood. It is much safer for your bird if you change them when necessary.

A rectangular shape of cage, or any shape like hexagonal, with corners, suits most birds. They like to have a corner to retire to, they do this sometimes just to get their bearings when they have been flying about. Plus they feel secure in a corner.

Choose carefully and you will have a happy and healthy bird who can perhaps live as long as 15 years to continue giving you pleasure.

Indianapolis Coach with Red Hat?

The last couple of years my buddies and I have noticed one of Indianapolis Colts' coaches wears a bright red ball cap with the horseshoe on the front. He wears this every game! Does anyone know who this coach is and why he wears RED?!

Could anyone tell me the name of this toy, or the science behind how it works?

The toy looks like two cones with the bases stuck together. It comes with a a slope, whose base is shaped like a triangle. When the double cone is put on the narrow and lower end of the slope, it will roll up the slope to the top where the width of the slope is much wider. I know the reason for it doing this is something to do with the centre of mass, but don't understand why.

For example, if the hamster is in the bathroom, it can make flushing sounds if near the toilet or tooth brushing noises if near the sink. While in its bedroom it can make sleeping or snoring noises as well.

The cutest thing about these hamsters is that you can get additional accessories that allow your child to have different play environments or even take it on the go with them. The best accessory is the hamster fun house since your hamster can run freely and safely and play in different rooms. Other fun accessories include a carrier and blanket, surfboard and sleep dome, hamster wheel, ball, and skateboard and ramp, car and garage, as well as a bed.

OK, so you know about them, but where to get one? I heard you could get one at Walmart, but despite a weekly trip, have yet to see one. I saw that you can also try Walmart online, but they're sold out. ToysRUs, same story, but if you're lucky enough to catch a shipment when it comes in, you might be able to find one. Not interested going on foot to find one? You can also find one online and by shopping around you might find one at a great deal.
