When you visit a supermarket to purchase food for your family and you see a new product that you think might be a healthy choice, your first decision is to read the label to identify the ingredients and decide if the ingredients are healthy for your family.

Don’t you think it would be prudent to read cat food labels and determine whether it’s a bad cat food or a nutritional cat food? A cat food with any of their first five ingredients listed as a carbohydrate is bad cat food and it is harming your cat.

However, most cat owners fail to read cat food labels and as a result, you feed your cats many bad cat foods with harmful ingredients that are causing premature cat deaths.

Since most cat caregivers consider their feline friends as family members, don’t you think you should show them the same consideration? Feeding your cat bad cat food that leads to premature cat deaths is not showing love for your cat.

Cats are carnivores and their physiology demands a meat-based diet as this will closely mimic their natural diet. It’s imperative that you remember and abide by guidelines that will benefit your cat and help him/her realize their longevity. Bad cat foods will not do this but nutritional cat foods will.

Such foods as carbohydrates will damage your cats’ digestive system and cause food related diseases that will severely shorten his life. These are not nutritional cat foods but rather bad cat foods and they are the main cause of premature cat deaths

For your educational benefit as well as your cats’ lives, let’s take a look at some cat foods and examine their ingredients.

Avoderm

Use of Carbohydrates which include;

Oat Bran and Rice Flour also included is

Avocado oil and Guar gum

Oat bran is the outer husk of the oat grain – it is a carbohydrate.

Rice flour is a form of flour made from finely milled rice – another carbohydrate.

Avocado oil is oil pressed from the fruit of avocados. The fruit, leaves, bark and seeds of avocados have been reported as being toxic to cats. The toxic component in avocado is “Persin” which is a fatty acid preservative. Oat bran, rice flour, avocado oil and guar gum are all bad cat food ingredients

Eukanuba

Use of Carbohydrates which include;

Brewers Rice and Corn Grits also

includes Beef-by-Product, Dried Egg

Product, Dried Beet Pulp and Menadione

Dimethylpyrimidinol Bisulfite

Brewers rice and corn grits are starchy carbohydrates with no nutritional benefit to cats

Beef by-product is the parts of the cow other than muscle meat. It could be organs and skin. Its origin is Rendering Plants.

Dried Beet Pulp is free from crowns and leaves extracted from the process of manufacturing sugar. It’s mostly used as a filler in cat food.

Dried Egg Product – Cheap source of protein - waste product of the egg industry. It could include undeveloped eggs, shells and other tissue deemed unfit for humans. Brewers rice, corn grits, beef by-products, dried egg products, dried beet pulp and MDB are all bad cat food ingredients.

Fancy Feast

Use of a Carbohydrate; Wheat Gluten

also includes Meat by-Product and

Menadione Sodium Bisulfite

Wheat Gluten - The tough, viscid nitrogenous substance remaining when wheat is washed to remove the starch. Wheat gluten is a cheap by-product of human food processing, the starchy liquid left after washing wheat. It is used mostly to bind food together. Wheat gluten is included in a number of human food products, as well as pet foods. Contaminated wheat gluten from China has been found responsible for a large number of the reported sicknesses and death of pets from melamine toxicity.

Meat by-product – Is the product that’s derived from Rendering Plants; road-kill, and the four Ds (dead, dying, diseased, disabled) and decaying animals flesh.

I’ve already explained what menadione derivatives are.

Wheat gluten, meat by-products and MSB are all bad cat food ingredients.

Friskies

Use of Meat by-Products, Poultry

Giblets, Poultry and Bone Meal,

Vegetable Gums and Onion Salt,

I’ve already defined meat by-products earlier and we all know what poultry giblets are, correct? In case you don’t know, it’s the gizzards and hearts of chickens and turkeys provided that’s their origin but we don’t really know, they could come from buzzards as their source is not identified.

Bone Meal is another unidentified ingredient. It could come from the five Ds (dead, dying, diseased, disabled and decaying) animals that are products of Rendering Plants.

Vegetable Gum is another carbohydrate and its main purpose is a thickener or binder and it serves no nutritional purpose for cats and it could be toxic.

Onion Salt – No form of garlic or onion should be used in cat foods. Onions contain Thiosulphate which is toxic to cats.

Meat by-products, poultry giblets, poultry and bone meal, vegetable gums and onion salt are all bad cat food ingredients.

The above cat foods and their ingredients are a mere sample of what’s available as cat foods. Now that you have some information to improve you cats’ diet, use it and your cat will appreciate you taking their health into consideration.

Stop feeding your cat bad cat foods that are harming them. Stop buying bad food for your cats and lining the pockets of commercial cat food companies because they are laughing at how uninformed cat owners really are by actually purchasing the stuff they call food and feeding it to your pets.

It’s unbelievable that caring pet owners could actually create a market for bad cat food. If we don’t stop buying bad cat foods and start feeding our cats nutritional cat foods, our cats’ mortally rate will continue to skyrocket.

Since uninformed cat caregivers are the ones that created the market for bad cat food, what do you think would happen to the commercial cat food companies if suddenly cat caregivers became informed and stopped buying their bad cat foods?

They would stop making bad cat foods and begin making nutritional cat foods or go out of business.

Most cat caregivers are not that responsible. They have refused to stop buying bad cat foods and each year the commercial cat food company’s profits continue to increase. At this rate, the pet food industry will never act responsible enough to produce nutritional cat foods.

Because of convenience, cat caregivers buy bad cat foods that are loaded with toxins. A bag of dry cat food is killing your cat but do you care? Do you prefer your convenience over providing your cat with nutritional cat food?

The commercial cat food industry is banking on their research and it suggests that cat caregivers are uninformed relative to nutritional cat foods and they are more concerned with their convenience. Therefore, there is no incentive for the commercial cat food industry to produce nutritional cat foods so they will continue producing cheap and bad cat foods and you will continue buying it and they will continue laughing all the way to the banks and your cats will continue dying prematurely

can anyone recommend a pet that kept indoors that doesnt require somebody to always be home and is low care?

I have a friend who lives alone but is in need of some companionship besides a dog or a cat or bird that usually requires the full treatment. He is a busy career person and would like the company when at home yet doesnt have the time to be home with the animal constantly.
Any sincere suggestions would be welcome, providing they are not rude or impolite.

rabbit, very cute and smart, you need to clean their cage once a week, but make sure you have enough water and food if he is not around. lovely animal.

Year after year, Labrador Retrievers have consistently ranked high as a good family dog, with their intelligence, and laid back demeanor they make for excellent family pets. Here's more about this breedÂ…

History: The Labrador Retrievers roots, depending upon which theory you adhere to, either started in England or Newfoundland. Most theories suggest that the origin of the Labrador Retriever dates back to Newfoundland in the 1700s, where they were originally considered a smaller version of the Newfoundland, and might even have been a partial cross of a now extinct St. Johns dog and the larger Newfoundland. By the 1800s, the Labrador began making its way to England and European countries, but compliments for refining the breed as a hunting and retrieving dog go to the English breeders. They are known for being black in color originally, with the first yellow and chocolate colored Lab's being recorded around the end of the 19th century.

To this day the Labrador Retriever was and still is used for bird hunting and retrieval of birds in the water. Even though today the Retriever is a natural when used for bird hunting, they were in the past, excellent at retrieving fish too, and still show their love for a good swim. Said to have originated in Newfoundland, there are those who speculate that the Labrador name comes from the Canadian Province of Labrador. Popular among breeders in Canada around the 1800s, the Labrador Retriever only made it's way to America in the early 1900s, where it was finally registered with the American Kennel Club in1917.

Description: Thriving in all types of weather, the Labrador Retriever has a thick, resistant to water coat, that comes in the various flavors of yellow, black or chocolate brown. Female Labrador Retrievers weigh in at around 55-75 pounds, while the larger male tips the scale at between 65-80 pounds. the height of the Labrador can range from 21-24 inches tall. Some of the beautiful features that this dog possesses include their muscular hind legs combined with an otter like tail, most often recognized while in their stance. They are also known for their proud, powerful looking head.

Life Span: 10-13 years

Common Ailments: May be prone to Hip and Elbow Dysphasia which might cause problems with mobility and arthritis in it's later years. otherwise, this is a hardy dog breed. Another possible ailment known to this breed is called Retinal Atrophy which is a progressive disease that results in reduction or complete loss of vision.

Suitability with Children: Yes, a very even tempered breed as well as gentle natured.

Suitability with Other Pets: Yes

Living Conditions: Labrador Retrievers do best in a home with a large yard or with land. They are easily adaptable though, and would also do well in an apartment or with a small yard if received plenty of exercise on a daily basis.

Training: This breed is easily trainable as a puppy. Combining their intelligence with their easy trainability makes them one of the most powerful combinations as a superior working dog and excellent sporting dog, as well as a wonderful family pet. Remember that Labradors need consistency and reinforcement from the time they are puppies and they will grow into a strong and gentle family pet.

Exercise Required: High

Expense to Maintain: Low

Breed Temperament: Being definitely a favored breed in America, just about every puppy in the pound will state they have some Labrador in their blood. If not, many owners will make the claim that they do because of their gentle nature despite their size, as well as their extreme intelligence and ease at training. There is no doubt about it, the Labradors loyalty, agreeable temperament and affectionate nature are what causes this to be one of the most popular dog breeds around..

Keep in mind that Labradors find their greatest happiness when they are outdoors sporting or exercising on a regular basis. While Labrador Retrievers can adapt to almost any living environment, owners will find they are most content when they are regularly exercised. If not regularly exercised, especially as a puppy, owners could find that they will turn towards destructive habits, like chewing furniture. Also, Labs that are not regularly exercised show a tendency to put on weight, as they sure love to eat.

All things considered, Labrador Retrievers will make a good family dog with a little extra TLCÂ…and along with the tender loving care, don't forget the extra running, fetching or swimming!

When Richard Livitski isn't busy digging up information on Labrador Retrievers, he's working on his dog names website http://www.dog-names-and-more.com where dog names as well as other helpful dog related topics can be found.

Creation VS evolutionary theory VS things you can observe?

If mutations are the mechanism that slowly adds genetic information then why can a snake mutate a second snake head, but not mutate chicken wings?

A snake already has genetic information to grow a snake head, but chicken wing DNA he aint got!

Where is the example of this added genetic information in nature?

Frogs can grow a third frog eye, Cows can grow five cow legs, and kittens can mutate and grow two cat heads. In nature it seems that mutations only utilize the genetic information that is already present.

Before you comment on my ignorance, YES I do a lot of reading regarding this subject. Thus, I don’t care if bacteria can now eat nylon. Show me the MONEY!!!

Big D I am a Creationist! Consider that the vast majority of mutations are admitted by the evolutionists themselves to be bad. Furthermore, it has not been shown experimentally that mutations and natural selection can produce new organs. Limited changes have been observed in many species, but that does not prove that these species could evolve in millions of years into entirely different kinds of creatures. Big D Scientists merely assume that this happened in the past when no scientists were present to observe the process. Geneticist have concluded that the vast majority of mutations are bad. Sir Julian Huxley estimated that perhaps less than one-tenth percent of all mutations could be advantageous to an organism. Bear it mind this cannot be quantitatively demonstrated by experiment however.Of the remainder some are apparently neutral, but the large majority either weaken or kill the individual. The pressures of the environment also lower the ability of organism to reproduce itself. My argument in summary that there is no evidence that a mutation or series of mutations has ever created a new structure or organ. Theorists are still arguing, conclusions on mutations are inadequate as well as chromosome changes. For the most part the source of new genes have not been established.

Have faith Big D in God!

Taking a puppy to a dog show?

I am new to the dog show business.
I have a 7 month akita puppy, shet is a shelter rescue.
We are planning to get a second puppy from a breeder at the end of the year.
I am planning to go to the dog show to meet the breeder and see her dogs in the show ring.
I want to take my puppy with me, she travels a lot with us and I want her to get used to the busy noisy environment. She is very well socialized.
I am not planning to show her, since she is a rescue and not registered.

Can I still take her to the dog show?
How much does it cost? What do I need to bring with me?

No, you can't take her. Dogs not enetered in the show are not allowed in the building.

It used to be when you participated in an A.K.C. Obedience Trial there was a set pattern that you followed. This pattern has never allowed for a positive reward experience for your dog while in the ring. The new sport of Rally Obedience now allows for the handler to speak to the dog, clap, whistle, or otherwise encourage the dog as long as the handler does not physically touch the dog or give him treats. Just this fact alone has helped to reduce the tension that often precedes a performance and the exhibitor feels more relaxed. Furthermore the courses may be set up differently at each show, thus training for the event is not as boring for the dog.

The basic exercises must still be performed by the dog but the rules are less stringent. The course consists of over a dozen options of exercises which are designated by signs at various "stations" within the ring. Each "station" requires a different performance on the part of the handler and the dog. Each exercise will allow some leeway for performance of the exercise, as long as it is performed within a certain distance from the sign.

The handler and dog must have a knowledge of the basic obedience exercises to participate in the beginning levels. At the beginning levels these exercises may be performed on leash. The dog needs to know "Sit" and a verbal command may be used. The Sit must be performed at the handlers left side and also the Sit will be used in front when the dog is called to the front position. The Dog must know "Heel". Here again, this may be verbally commanded. The dog must be able to walk in the Heel position at a slow pace and a fast pace. Various performances at the stations may require a series of heeling patterns around cones or in between posts. Some agility types of exercises may be required. Some of the stations will require that the dog know the command for "Stay" either in the sit or down position and there are also exercises which require the left turn, the right turn and the about turn. The exercises progress to higher levels of difficulty for the advanced handlers, all of these must be performed off leash.

The courses are different at each dog show and each handler may have the chance to do a walk through of the course before he competes. The handler and dog will automatically have 100 points assigned before they begin the course and points are deducted for missed performances or exercises that are done incorrectly. Although the exercises all combine the standard obedience exercises which have always been required at A.K.C. Obedience Trials, the vast majority of people who have entered a Rally Obedience Trial have found that the event is much more rewarding than the standard exercises. The reason for this is that the handler may speak to the dog and use voice tones for approval or disapproval. The whole event seems to be much less formalized and allows for more leeway and the exhibitors who have participated have almost always had nothing but good things to say about their experience.
