Does flake fish food expire?

How often should I replace the food so that I know it's fresh and won't kill my tiger barbs?
Also, what other foods can I feed my barbs? I heard they will eat frozen peas, is this true? If so, how do I feed it to them; just straight from the freezer or do I need to let it thaw a bit and/or cut the peas into small pieces?

Always buy SMALL bottles of fish food and replace it OFTEN like every 2 months.

Tiger Barbs loves lettuce and peas. Stick a small piece of green lettuce in your tank and watch the barbs nibble on it like crazy! Mine do anyway...... Also, frozen peas are OK once or twice a month. Remove the skin and let thaw a bit before introducing to your Barbs. I like the idea of small pieces myself... makes for easy feeding.

Many fish are very sturdy and can withstand changes in their tank water whereas some rare tropical fish are more delicate and need constant checking when it comes to the water's pH, chemical, bacteria, and so on. If you want your fish to live you're going to need to be sure you're taking care of it properly. You also need to be aware of their dietary needs, as some cannot do so well with plain flake fish food. They may need special live feed or may also need supplements added to their diet. These things can be costly, so do your research and comparison shopping beforehand and make sure you can fit these things into your budget.
